FORT LAUDERDALE – Electrifying entertainers in costumes featuring wireless lighting literally light up the stage as Off-Broadway’s iLuminate comes to The Parker on Tuesday, January 29 at 7 p.m. iLuminate blends music, art and state-of-the-art technology to tell a story of magic, romance and adventure through dance styles ranging from contemporary, hip-hop, Latin, and breaking choreographed to popular and classic music by artists like Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, James Brown, Janet Jackson, Chris Brown, LMFAO, The Wanted, and Sam Smith. This journey of light and sound follows a clique of 20-somethings who thrive to the beat of life in a city of glowing colors and heart-pounding musical tempos. A shy young artist with a magic paintbrush tries to win the heart of a beautiful hip-hop dancer but ends up in a duel using magic to save her. With its mash-up of dazzling wizardry, spectacular dance moves and high-tech effects, iLuminate has been featured on, among others, America’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, X Factor, MTV’s Video Music Awards, BET Awards and The Nickelodeon Awards. ABOUT PARKER PLAYHOUSE The neo-classical Playhouse Parker is one of Fort Lauderdale’s first venues. Built by Dr. Louis Parker, the playhouse opened its doors on February 6, 1967 and is managed now by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
