Why celebrate Ireland just on one day in March? The Broward Center for the Performing Arts starts the celebrations in February with The Young Dubliners and The Irish Tenors with Orchestra and continues in May with a concert by Dermot Kennedy.
With 30 years as one of the world's leading Celtic Rock bands, The Young Dubliners come to the Abdo New River Room at the Broward Center on Friday, February 3 at 8:30 p.m. While several of the band members have no Irish roots of any kind, the Irish influence is certainly there but it's not the only one that bursts through on their albums or live shows. The band has appeared twice on Jimmy Kimmel Live and had its songs featured in Sons of Anarchy and Human Target. The concert will be standing room only with limited seating. Tickets are $27 in advance and $29 the day of the show.
In their 25th Anniversary tour, The Irish Tenors with Orchestra delivers songs of celebration and humor, mixed with touching melodies and songs that warm the heart in Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker on Tuesday, February 28 at 8 p.m. The Irish Tenors powerful vocal line-up of Anthony Kearns, Ronan Tynan and Declan Kelly are classically trained singers, each having performed in leading concert halls across the world. They’ve proven themselves gifted interpreters of a wide range of material, with such songs as “My Heart Will Go On” (from Titanic), “Fairytale Of New York”(previously recorded by Kirsty MacColl and The Pogues) and even Jimmy Kennedy’s “South Of The Border (Down Mexico Way).” These songs live comfortably in their repertoire alongside “Danny Boy,” “Whiskey in the Jar” and “Fields Of Athenry.” Tickets are $39.50-$99.
