Published: Feb 5, 2019
FORT LAUDERDALE – The Broward Center and the South Florida Symphony Orchestra present The Vienna Boys Choir, comprised of talented young voices ranging from ages 10-14, at The Parker Sunday, February 17 at 6 p.m. In a program entitled Vienna Waits for You performed with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, the choir performs “Vienna” by Billy Joel, selections from the choir’s new Strauss CD and works by Mozart, Schubert, Haydn and Brahms as well as traditional Viennese songs. Renowned as one of the finest vocal ensembles in the world for over five centuries, the Vienna Boys Choir currently consists of 100 boys from dozens of nations who are divided into four touring groups that, in total, give 300 concerts and performances each year before almost half a million people. The Vienna Boys Choir has been associated with many of the world’s greatest composers over the past 500 years including Mozart and Bruckner while Haydn and Schubert were members of the Choir. The Washington Post described a Vienna Boys Choir concert as “...totally disciplined voices tempered by a singular sense of ease and consistency, and a sound conveying ebullience, humor or solemnity as the music called for.” The concert is part of the 2018-19 Broward Center Classical Series which concludes with the Brussels Philharmonic at the Broward Center on March 13. Tickets are $33–$53. Ticketmaster is the only official ticketing service of The Parker. Buy tickets online at ParkerPlayhouse.com and Ticketmaster.com; by phone at 954.462.0222; in person at the The Parker box office Tuesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and at the Broward Center’s AutoNation Box Office. Eighth Street in Fort Lauderdale, is an affiliated venue of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, which provides programming and management of the facility.
