ages who want to shine like a star on stage. As enrollment for both Spring Break Theater Camp and Summer Theater Camp 2024 is currently open, prospective students and parents are encouraged to register soon as available spots are quickly running out.
Spring Break Theater Camp 2024
From Annie to Zombie Prom and awe-inspiring drama to zany comedy, young campers will go through the entire alphabet to learn everything about the theater from A to Z as Spring Break Theater Camp returns to the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center for a fun-filled week of singing, dancing, acting and more March 25-29.
The five-day camp is under the direction of The Performance Project School of the Arts’ Executive Director Nina Felice, who shares hands-on experience in musical theater, acting, dance, voice and technical production with students from different ages and experience, culminating with a live performance of How To Be A Star From A to Z on a professional stage at the Broward Center on March 29 at 6 p.m.
Camps are divided into three age-appropriate groups for grades 2 - 5 (Group A), grades 6 - 8 (Group B) and grades 9 -12 (Teen Program, Group C). The Teen Program is particularly helpful for teens who are preparing for competitions and auditions as they can earn volunteer hours by helping the younger campers in the morning. Afterwards, teen campers receive coaching on a song and/or monologue in the afternoon which they perform on the final day.
All camps are held from Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuition is $315 for Groups A and B and $165 for Group C. Early camp hours are also available from 8 - 9 a.m. for $35; after camp hours are available from 4 - 6 p.m. for $65; or both before and after camp for $100 per session.
Registration for Spring Break Theater Camp 2024 is available online at BrowardCenter.org/spring-break-theater-camp (except for Group C, Teen Program), by phone at 954-468-2689 or by emailing registrar@browardcenter.org. Online registration closes at noon on Friday before the camp's start date. After online registration closes, applicants must register in person at the check in location. Spots are not guaranteed and are limited. An additional fee of $50 will apply to all walk ups.
This program is presented in partnership with The Performance Project School of the Arts and is divided into two sessions at three locations: the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale, the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center in Miami-Dade and at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at Nova Southeastern University in Davie.
Taught by professional performing arts teachers under the direction of Executive Director Nina Felice, the camps deliver hands-on experience in musical theater, acting, dance, voice and technical production in camps created for different ages and experience levels. Each camp session culminates in a live performance on the Broward Center’s Amaturo Theater stage. As part of enrollment, each camper also receives a Summer Theater Camp 2024 t-shirt and a cast photo.
Each of the two Summer Theater Camp 2024 sessions is divided into age-appropriate experiences. Group A Camp is designed for children ages 7 to 9 and offers classes in acting, singing, dance and arts and crafts. Group B Camp is suited for campers ages 10 to 13 and features classes in acting, singing, dance and technical production. Additionally, Group B Camp is also open to ages 10 to14 at the Aventura locations. Group C Camp is for teens ages 13 to 18 and explores voice and diction, character analysis, scene study, dialects, styles and methods.
In addition, Young Professionals Camp for teens ages 13-18 is open for enrollment by audition for campers with previous experience, and campers must participate in a full seven-day, four-week program with additional performance dates.
Camps are held Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Tuition for all camps is at $975 per session (with the exception of Session 2 at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center, which is $877.50) with a required $300 non-refundable deposit that is applied toward the total camp price. Early Bird discounts of $100 are available for participants who register by Friday, March 15.
